Hierarchy BW Authorization

Hi All ,

Is it possible to assign a specific Hierarchy node  for 0PROFIT_CTR . For example for plant or company code even though the value does not exist in the selection we can still assign a specific value same as in organization value in PFCG Role but i find its not possible to do so for Hierarchy node .

I was requested to assign a profit center and i was not able to find in the Hierarchy node did also checked in the table /BI0/TPROFIT_CTR the profit center also did not appear .

Would that mean a functional consultant need to ensure this value uploaded and its visible prior i can assign the value in authorization .

Your message seems to indicate that you are using the BW 3.x security model. The BW 7.x security model with analysis authorizations is far superior in handling hierarchy authorizations. I encourage you to review it (transaction code RSECADMIN ). Activating it is not a small project, but it's really necessary to use the features and functionality of the BW 7.x family to the fullest.

In short, the answer is yes, a hierarchy node can be given to a user through an analysis authorization. But the node MUST exist in order to create the analysis authorization. This will require that you duplicate the profit center group from your ECC production system to your ECC development and test systems, and bring those hierarchies into your BW systems.

Note also that Profit Center is compounded with Controlling Area. If you have multiple controlling areas, a custom solution may be required to provide global security across all entities.

Now I understand what where it going wrong … I will ask the BW functional consultant to make the necessary changes and upload the flat files .
