Hello All,

Reg EWA report I have few clarifications for which I am not able to find a concrete solution, so seeking some expert advise from the community.

Hardware capacity Analysis.

Not getting usage regarding the CPU Utilisation, I am getting info about the number of CPU's CPU info model etc but utilization data I am not getting.

I have checked the note 1309499 - Hardware Capacity Analysis in SAP Services.

All the criterias are fulfilled SAP OScol, SAP Host agent, ST06/OS07 I am able to see all the data.

Attached screen shots from the report

My H/w is IBM Power VM with Shared processor LPAR as per the above note, it says PUA should be enabled for my machine type, but strange thing is for the other SAP server of the same H/w specs I am getting the CPU util data in H/w capacity, so can you let me know if anybody of you have faced a similar issue and what needs to be enabled to get the CPU Util data in EWA report.

Solman version 7.1 SP 08 Managed system infor SAP NW 7.4 SP 05

OS/DB - AIX 6.1/Oracle 11.2.0.4

Also I am not getting the rating for Overal section Database server load from expensive SQL statements, whereas for the table Load from Expensive SQL stsmts I am getting the rating, it is not reflected in the overall rating.

Already checked the note  551646 and no clue related to my issue.

Also for DVM is it necessary to have ST 7.1 SP 12 or higher?

I am not able to get the data for that section too.

Let me know how the data is collected and how to troubleshoot here.

Please help.

Hi Balaji,

Try to install Latest DAA agent in the Managed system( NW).

Rerun the setup of managed system configuration under solman_setup

Make sure Agent registration is completed.

Check SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFMONITOR is shckeduled and running properly in your Managed system.

Hi Balaji,

Follow the below steps :

- Run the lmdb transaction

- Select the corresponding Product system.

- Goto the host

- If your data about the host is present(such as CPU, VM) , then you will able to see the hardware capacity in EWA.

Hello,

Can you please let me know even for the data to be available in EWA report,we must set-up and activate CPH also it uses CCMS agents for collecting the performance data.

Can you let me know in which system it must be activated in Solman for the managed system?

Please provide some more helpful details for the activation..

Hello Balaji,

is the managed system connected to CEN through RZ21? It depends on your setup, where to activate collection of the OS data in CPH - in managed system or in CEN. Is the OS data available locally in RZ20 in the managed system?

Hello Alwina,

Yes I have the managed system connected using CCMS agent to Solman 7.1.

Actually I need the data to be displayed in EWA generated in Solman, so please let me know where should I activate CPH.

Actually I am able to see the data from OS07n from CEN system for SAT system.

Hello Balaji,

which OS data exactly is available in OS07N for SAT system in CEN? Is this snapshot data and data for previous hours? If this data is available, you can activate collection of the data in CPH in OS07N. For this please select the system in OS07N, go to section on the link hand side:

Choose change mode on the top, near the pencil button on the top another button "Assign defaults" will appear, please press it and save. After that a SAPOSCOL schema will be created in CPH and it will be assigned to the MTE classes relevant for services. Please check after several hours, if the history data will be collected.

Hello alwina,

Thank you very much for the response.

I was in a thot to follow OSS note-1147334 - CPH activation of OS data for SAP Remote Services.

There I was about to follow Section 1. History of one system, I was thinking what MTE class must be choosed there and which collection/reorganization method must be assigned, mine is IBM Power VM so as per the note I wanted to choose "CPUvirtAIX" and few others.

So the method which you stated also will help me getting the history data and will help in getting the CPU utilization in EWA?

Hello Balaji,

yes, this is the standard way to activate collection of OS data in CPH. After you have activated it in OS07N you can check, if SAPOSCOL schema is also assigned to the MTE classes mentioned in the note 1147334. If you have some special requirements, then you can create your own schema in CPH and assign it to the required MTE classes. SAPOSCOL schema collects data for 45 days.

Hello Alwina, Thanks. I am able to see the MTE classes in rz23n with the method SAPOSCOL.

But still in rz20 for some of the MTE classes I see the status data collector as running in autoabap.

Hope it is ok? I can wait for few hours to see if the history data is populated in CEN system.

Also main thing is it must be reflected in EWA report.

I scheduled the job for immediate run once and can see the history data of SAT system in CPH.

But I am just thinking if this will be also populated in EWA report which is the main motto here.

Hello Balaji,

probably it will work if you have data collectors running in autoabap and in agent, but in some cases it can cause inconsistencies in the data. We recommend to have only one type of the data collectors running, either in agent or in autoabap.

The prerequisite for the data in EWA report is to have the data in OS07N first 🙂 If you have all required data in OS07N, but still not in EWA report, then it needs to be checked, how EWA loads these data and what is missing to load it. I think, in SDCCN transaction you should have some logs for the EWA run.

you have to wait now, until data is collected, to check if EWA gets these data

Thank you. Now that the data is available. I will try to schedule a one-time EWA for that system to check.

No luck. Still H/w capacity (CPU utilization) data is not displayed in EWA report. Not sure what is missing again.

Please help...

I just have one day data of SAT system in CPH should I wait for few more days?

Also apart from CPH should I also enable PUA as per 1309499 as my H/w is IBM Power VM?

Hello Balaji,

which CPU data is reported in RZ20? You have mentioned, that you have data collectors running in autoabap, sometimes if the both types of data collectors are active this can cause missing data.

I think you have to enable PUA as per 1309499. As this note describes - "

If you do not set this flag, a CPU performance analysis within SAP Services is

limited.".

Please check also logs of EWA run, if errors are reported and if you see the reason, why the data is not read.

Regards, Alwina

Former Member

Yes I may need to enable PUA but that will be done once there are nothing pending to be analyzed from SAP.

I see in the OSS Note it is specified like

6. Then use "Menu" -> "Views" -> "Status Data Collector". If the data collection is performed

with an agent you will find "Running in agent" otherwise "Running in Autoabap".

If the status of the Data Collector is not "Running in agent", then register the CCMS agent SAPCCM4X to the CEN.

Does this mean manual registration? cos rz21 remote monitoring for SAT system is already done.

EWA errors I noticed only this in SDCCN SAT system job log. I am not sure how exactly to check further for the below log.

I have attached screen shot for the same.

Hello Balaji,

is this exception "NO_AUTHORIZATION" relevant? Do you have a dump in ST22 for this?

For the data in RZ20 you should deactivate the OS ABAP data collectors in RZ21, delete the OS monitor in RZ20 with option 4 and recreate it by restarting the agents. Then the OS data should be consistent. Please take a look at the link how to do it:

Thanks.

So I should do the rz21 activties from SAT system and Rz20 from CEN system right?

My NW release is 7.4 and I have integrated ccms agent (as seen from agent.lock file in SAT system)

So I just can fire the command sapcontrol -nr NN -function RestartService after finishing the rz21/rz20.

Please confirm.

You should execute both activities in RZ21 and RZ20 in SAT system, and after that restart sapstartsrv processes of all instances in SAT system with "sapcontrol -nr NN -function RestartService".

Hello Alwina,

OSS Note 2123088 was referenced I have similar type of error message in CCMS log file which I noticed earlier but did not think it could be related.

My host agent release 720 SP 198 whereas I see 205 recommended in the OSS note 2123088.

I just noticed in the system that CPU_Utilization and Utilization MTE under CPU MTE class both report the average CPU Utilization (system+user) but show different data.

So should I consider upgrading the SAPhostagent and implement the corrections stated in the note.

Or both are running with data collection method auto abap, so if I follow the recommendations suggested in the OSS note 1697515 will it be enough.

Also one good thing is I am able to see the graphic representation of CPU utilization (not verified if the data is accurate). Sad :(

Please help.

Hello Balaji,

yes, the note 2123088 can be relevant, there were changes for CPU MTE classes. What are the error messages exactly, which you get in the log file of the integrated agent sapstartsrv_ccms.log?

What is the kernel release and patch level of the SAT system?

Regards, Alwina

Former Member

Hello Alwina,

I get the same error message as put up in the note 2123088.

SAT system Kernel release 741 PL 115..

I have DEV system configured with classic CCMS agent resgistration done from SAT even there I get the same error message, but that is a standalone CCMS agent (as seen from agent.lock file) not integrated with sapstartsrv.

So both CCMS agents standalone and integrated has this error inthe log file.

Hi Alwina,

I have done the settings as per the recommendations in your link (CCMS) OS data in ST06 (ST06N, OS07N) for previous hours and history is not available - Technology T.... and also followed the relevant OSS notes.

Below are the results attached.

Also now I see the method to be CCM_Collect_c and the method is not yet released and available in CEN System.

Is that be because of some corruption in the /log/sapccm4x folder?

Am i supposed to follow 1503112 - Obsolete MTE nodes in CCMS monitoring segment (Error-253).

Clearing Monitoring Segment of SAP instance:

Will this help?

As I have the log file in SAT system log/sapccm4x dir.

Please share your thoughts.

Hello Balaji,

yes, you should apply the note 1503112. The first step is to apply the latest SAPHOSTAGENT patch because of the correction in the note 2123088, then please stop the system, stop all sapstartsrv processes of this system, stop the SAPHOSTAGENT, delete AL* files in DIR_LOGGING directories of the instances and in the working directory of the SAPHOSTAGENT, cleanup the shared memory of all instances and of the SAPHOSTAGENT. Start the SAPHOSTAGENT, start the SAP system. This should remove all inconsistencies in the names of OS MTE classes between the SAPHOSTAGENT and SAP system.

Okay I believe this should atleast fix the issue.

But I cant stop sapstartsrv processes easily, it requires to bring down SAP right.

alwina_enns

sapstartsrv processes can be stopped without stopping SAP system, but the problem is, that you have to cleanup the shared memory, and for this you have to stop the SAP system.

If you get the errors only for OS monitoring:

You can try to stop only SAPHOSTAGENT, cleanup its shared memory, delete AL* files in the working directory of the SAPHOSTAGENT.

For the SAP system: Please delete the OS monitor with option 4. With option 4 the deletion of a monitor is similar like cleaning the shared memory. Restart sapstartsrv and please check the trace sapstartsrv_ccms.log if you will still get the errors for OS monitoring. If the errors are still there, then you have to stop the whole system together with sapstartsrv processes and cleanup its shared memory and their AL* files.

Hello Alwina,

Can i proceed like below as per the OSS notes 2123088 & 1503112.

Stop stand alone ccms & hostagent.

Upgrade Hostagent to 205.

Stop SAP & DB.

Stop Hostagent.

Stop CCMS agent if active.

Cleanup AL* files in log/sapccm4x ( as I have the error message in /log/sapccm4x not in hostagent logs).

Run cleanipc all remove.

Start SAP, DB, Hostagent and CCMS.

Please suggest, will this be OK.

alwina_enns

Hello Balaji,

you should delete AL* files also in the work directory of the SAPHOSTAGENT and cleanup its shared memory, because there are changes in OS MTE class names for CPU, which are also implemented in the saposcol. You should cleanup its shared memory to ensure, that only new MTE class names are used.

Do you still have standalone ccms agents?

Regards, Alwina

Former Member

Yes but 1503112 suggests depending on the error message available in which log Dir we should cleanup AL* files for my system its in log/sapccm4x/sapstartsrv_ccms.log

Yes in one system I ve standalone. Later I will deregister the agent and implement the rz21 that being a Dev system I am kind of thinking whether to change or leave it as such..

alwina_enns
Employee

Hello Balaji,

you will apply a patch for SAPHOSTAGENT, right? For this the SAPHOSTAGENT will be stopped, the content of the CCMS shared memory will be written to the AL* files (CCMS shared memory backup files), you will apply the new patch with the corrections, the SAPHOSTAGENT will be started and it will upload the content of the AL* to the shared memory. But now this content was created by the old (not corrected) SAPHOSTAGENT. You will get the old faulty state of the monitoring tree again.

Regards, Alwina

Former Member

Yes I will stop and upgrade hostagent. But my error message is in SAP instance as per the OSS note 1503112.

So I should delete AL* files in /usr/sap/SID/DVE*/log right?

Also I should delete the AL* files in .usr/sap/host*/work?

To remove the inconsistencies of MTE classes..??

alwina_enns
Employee
Employee

yes, exactly. Delete AL* files and execute "cleanipc <instance number> remove" for all instances and saphostagent, when all is stopped.

The error-253 is repored, when there is a mismatch in the MTE definitions in the shared memory and what the data supplier tries to create. If you apply a patch, then it is possible, that you will get this mismatch because of some changes in the patch. This is why you should cleanup the old information about monitors in CCMS shared memory when you apply a new patch.

Former Member

Hello Alwina, As suggested I followed the OSS note i.e. upgraded the host agent to 205, cleaned up AL* files in both /usr/sap/SID/DV*/log & in host agent directory.

Now there are no error messages in sapstartssrv_ccms.log. But MTE class for CPU in rz20 shows the same status as below.

Should i delete the CPU monitor classes  and restart the ccms agent again?

Hello Balaji,

it looks good so far. What do you see in "current status" view? Could you please select an MTE and display details for the MTE, are the values collected?

Hello Alwina, Yes I can see the values are collected now and even previously.

But status shows as running in agent and definition status has been only in PRESET(not in CHECKED) status for a long time and runtime status shows as ???(means the method is unknown)the status should be Ready right?. Is this ok?

Will I be able to receive the CPU utilization data in EWA even now? I need to wait to see the report.

alwina_enns

Hello Balaji,

the PRESET status means, that customizing in the shared memory is not synchronized with DB. In case of the ABAP data suppliers this synchronization is done by the dispatcher. In case of an agent I'm not sure, what should execute this synchronization and if it should be executed at all, I will need to check for some information on this. In our test systems this is the same PRESET status for some OS MTEs like on your screenshot. If EWA will still miss data, please create an incident at SAP and let me know the incident number through an e-mail, so that we can check the OS data in RZ20 and CPH. If these data is OK, we will need to contact EWA experts, why EWA does not load the data.

Hello Alwina,

I am still waiting for the coming Monday EWA report to see if I am getting the CPU utilization data. But in your test system are you getting the data in EWA report despite of the PRESET status running in agent.

Even in OS07n CEN system - CPH I am able to see only MTE's like 5 min load avg, Sys util, User Util, Idle, Idle True I am not able to see CPU_Util.

Although in CPH for all CPU related MTE's (saposcol) method is assigned, even in RZ23n I can see the all the MTE's are assigned using SAPOSCOL.

I will raise OSS message if Monday data is not populated, I am wondering how to communicate via email to you.

Thanks
