Some of metric values for our managed services/systems fluctuate a lot. They move between their normal values, between "Warning" and "Critical", and above "Critical", and back to the other ratings. A lot of alerts and e-mails are generated as a result.
We have plans to integrate a ticketing tool with SAP Cloud ALM and want to reduce the number of alerts and e-mails sent by SAP Cloud ALM. Is it possible to receive only Critical/Red alerts and notifications for metrics in SAP Cloud ALM for Operations (e.g. Health Monitoring, Job & Automation Monitoring)? Can we disable any alerts/e-mails for metrics above the "Warning" thresholds?
There is currently no means to disable alert or e-mail generation for only one of the threshold values associated with a metric. Either the alerts/e-mails are completely disabled for the metric, or they are enabled for both threshold values (warning and critical).
If too many alerts/e-mails are being generated then Warning/Critical threshold values should be altered to a level that reflects the business importance of the data point, while also ensuring that there is too many notifications.
However, these changes should be performed with careful consideration. It is possible that the value fluctuations in your managed service/system are an indication of an underlying issue that needs to be addressed on a deeper level. Changing the threshold values to too high a setting may hide an actual issue that needs attention.
