Hi,
We are using Design Studio 1.6 SP5P2. And we still need to be able to save and use variants in the prompt screen just like in Bex Analyzer, Analysis for OLAP and Analysis for Office, but have been unable to find a way to implement variants such as in the adhoc template.
Yes, dashboards should not have prompts, but we need a HTML5 analysis application to provide details that are too detailed for dashboards and this requires prompts and saving variants like is done in Bex Analyzer.
Honestly had given up on DS on this and used Analysis for Olap, but this was obsolete 2 years ago and the requirement is for a more modern and personalized UI. Lumira is yet another dead end. Webi again no.
So back to Design Studio and prompt screen, saving and using variants that are in BW?
And DS bookmarking, tried it, not useful as variants.
Anyone managed to do this? Is it still on the 'roadmap SAP? It has been a requirement from 1.0 ....Maybe we are just missing something? Appreciate any info. Thanks!
Found this May 2018 post from Tammy Powlas that mentions variants will be supported in Lumira 2.2, planned for August 2018.
Therefor, I assume variants are not available in Design Studio 1.6 SP5 or SP6. So I guess we wait.
We had planned to move to Lumira. Admins found upgrading platform was not possible from 4.2 SP4 and so requires new installation and migration of content.Sigh...

Unfortunately, there is no way to dynamically instantiate UI elements which makes it practically impossible to generate a dynamically configured custom variable prompt. Additionally, there are no BIAL script functions that provide enough metadata about variables either"
