DBConnect unable to extract VARCHAR2 fields

Hi,

I am working on BW 3.5 and am trying to create a DBConnect data source to pull data into our system. I am able to navigate up to the table and see the fields. However, in the first column (DB Table Fields Check), it shows the error (lightning icon) next to four fields. All these fields are of VARCHAR2 and while the field length is > 100.

I checked the help, it says "When (lightning icon) appears in the column, the field cannot be extracted, since BW restrictions have not been adhered to. This is the case when the field name contains lower case or special characters, or is longer than 16 characters." Now this is not applicable in my scenario because the field names do not have lower case letters, do not have special characters (except underscore) and the field names are not longer than 16.

Anything I ought to be checking here?

Hi,

We try to create a view on the source tables and generate the datasource based on the views. This helps us changing the field types easily on the source DB system. This helped us a lot in overcoming this type of issues.

I am facing the same problem. I have even tried to create view but i am not able to decrease the field length.
