Hi PI Experts,
SAP PI 7.1 Version:
As a part of new project, I have created new Product, Software Component(SWC) and Software Component Version(SWCV) in Development environment. Now testing is done in Dev and objects have to be moved to Stage and Quality systems. The SLD is not common for Dev, Stage and Quality because the product, SWC and SWCV which I created in Dev is not visible in SLD of Stage and Quality system.
My question is: How to move the product, SWC and SWCV from Dev to other systems like stage, quality and finally to production?
Do I need to create these product, SWC and SWCV in the SLD of all environments manually? Even Production too manually?
Kindly help, I am stuck in this part.
Thanks in advance.
You can transport by SLD, just select your Product and Softare component and click on "Export Option", a zip file with you Product information will be generate and for import in the destination SLD you just need go to SLD-> Administration-> import , all the objects in your zip file will be imported in the new SLD

I do this all the time and the transport of product and sfwc never was required

In prodution this process will working in the same way, you just need to transport the ESR and IB component as well as you did in the dev to quality.

Thanks Carlos.
I have created the product, SWC for the first time hence so many questions I am getting.
One last question to you - If I move the Transports having ESR and ID objects from Dev to Quality without exporting the new product created in Dev SLD to Quality SLD, will the ESR and ID Transports error out?
Thanks
Q: How to move the product, SWC and SWCV from Dev to other systems like stage, quality and finally to production?
R: You just need transport your software component by ESR with all definitions, automatcally the definitions in the TPZ file ( or request by CTS ) will reproduce the product and software component references in the destination environment.
Q:Do I need to create these product, SWC and SWCV in the SLD of all environments manually? Even Production too manually?
R: Never do this manually, all the objects in sap Pi have a unique identifier, if you create a new one in other system this Product and SFWCv will be in the same name but will not be the same by the system identification number

Hi Carlos,
From ESR I will create a CTS transport with the type as below:
After moving this to next environment I will be able to see the Software component version and all the objects that are under this software component version.
But my question is how to transport the product which is created in SLD of Dev to SLD of next system?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Carlos,
I have one more doubt. I did import the Product, SWC and SWCV in stage env from Dev env as mentioned by you(exporting from dev SLD and then importing the file in stage env SLD). Then I had to import the SWCV as well in ESR of stage env manually. My question is in production too this has to be done this way? I mean importing the Product, SWC and SWCV first in SLD and then manually importing the SWCV in ESR?because usually we dont have edit access for prod env ESR.
Kindly clarify me on this.
Thanks, Surya
Hi Surya,
Below blog has a good explanation of the same.
Please also search the forum before posting a query as you would most likely get some direction/guidance.
Thanks,
Rakesh
