ChaRM enhanced retrofot - how should I set up the transport route for Project landscape?

0 Kudos

Hi Experts,

After reading the wiki page below for enhanced retrofit, I am confused regarding how should the transport route be set up for Project landscape.

https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SM/How+to+work+with+Change+Request+Management+Enhanced+Retrofi...

The wiki says the following:

"Finally the changes done in the implementation landscape, TRs created in DV2, need to arrive in PRD; you can decide in which way to get these TRs imported into PRD. Depending on this decision you can create different implementation landscapes like:

DV2->QA2->VIR or (not sure what is VIR here. Virtual system?)

DV2->QA2->DV1 or

DV2->QA2->DV1->QA1->VA1->PRD"

Our landscape is as the following:

Maintenance landscape: DEV1 -> QA1 -> PRD

Project landscape: DEV2 -> QA2

If we are to cut over from QA2 to PRD? How should I set up the transport route for Project landscape? DEV2 -> QA2 -> PRD? Or DEV2 -> QA2 -> DEV1?

Thanks!

Hello Lei,

I assume that you want to move TRs from project landscape to the maintenance landscape via Retrofit.

The cut over strategy should be DEV2 -> QA2 -> cutover to DEV1.

Do check below blog for detailed explanation.

Hi Vignesh,

No,

I want to :

1. Move TRs from maintenance landscape to project landscape via retrofit

2. Move TRs from project landscape to PRD via cutover

We do not plan to cutover from QA2 to DEV1 because we will retire DEV1/QA1 after PRD is upgraded, thus no need to synchronize transports from QA2 into DEV1/QA1.

This is why I came up with the plan and I think I should configure the transport of project landscape as DEV2 -> QA2 -> PRD.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks

Hello Lei,

Then your strategy to cutover from DEV 2-> QA2 -> PRD -> DEV1 -> QA1 is correct.

Go through the blogs mentioned for some more insights on this.

Hi Vignesh,

if there is no need to sync the transport from project landscape (DEV2) to DEV1/QA1, why will we cutover as DEV 2-> QA2 -> PRD -> DEV1 -> QA1 - > PRD? Why not cutover directly from project landscape to PRD as DEV2 -> QA2 -> PRD?

thanks!
