[Issue Descriptions]

After a painful installation experience, the ASE installed OK finally.

As the document ( Logging In to the SAP ASE Cockpit ) says that the default port is 4283 ( https://<hostname>:4283/cockpit ), but I cannot find 4283 port is listening.

[Environment]

Windows 10 22H2 professional + .NET Framework 3.5 / 4.8 + Java Runtime 8u371 + Java Sdk 8u371 + Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistribution + Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistribution

[Install Steps]

Install Type: Typical
Configuration: SAP ASE + Backup Server + Cockpit // all config parameters are using default values

I'm sure the Cockpit service is running.

The error in the browser is as attached.

The cockpit info as follows and attached file ( cockpit-info-20230613.txt ).

---------- SERVICE PORT CONFIGURATION ----------
Service Name Property Name Current Value In Use Address
------------ ------------- ------------- ------ -------
RMI port 4992 true SYBASE01
Tds tdsPort 4998 true ANY
SccSADataserver com.sybase.asa.server.port 4638 true ANY

Hello Jasper,
We don't recommend anymore the usage of ASE Cockpit. You may refer to this SAP Note 2905660 - SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise Cockpit End of Life: December 31, 2020. As mentioned there, as an option you may use its command line / console option, or the replacement tool: AMC with information link in that SAP Note as well.

Also for your reference: 3261686 - AMC: Release Information - Administration and Management Console

Best regards,
Victoria.

Hi, Victoria :

Thanks a lot for your help.

I'm just a P-user and no privilege on 3261686 - AMC: Release Information - Administration and Management Console, so I have to find other public information on AMC; maybe it is another difficult journey.

Best Regards,

Hi Jasper,
To answer to your request regarding the first link I provided in my previous reply, here is the correct one: AMC - Administration and Management Console for SAP ASE 16.0 SP04.
Best regards,
Victoria.

Hi, Victoria:

After repeated installation tests, no matter whether AMC is installed on a new or existing ASE, it is not successful; and if it is installed on an existing ASE, the master will be rebuilt. Therefore, I decide to abandon AMC. The installation log on a new ASE as attached ase-suite-20230622-custom.txt.

I really don’t know this post AMC for SAP ASE – How to install AMC on Windows is how to install AMC successfully, maybe the setup.exe version is different.

Since AMC cannot be used, and SAP did not support Sybase Central and Cockpit before, I decide to find a third-party tool.

Thank you for your help.

Best Regards,

Based on the supplied details, you appear to be installing a version of ASE that was released after December 2020. The document you referenced, Logging In to the SAP ASE Cockpit, is from ASE 16.0 SP02PL04 and is not relevant. Releases of ASE after December 2020 (ASE 16.0 SP04 GA / ASE 16.0 SP03PL10) do not provide HTTP(S) services for ASE Cockpit. AMC is the go-forward GUI.

Can you please provide more details on your installation issues?

Chris

Hi, Chris:

Thanks a lot for your information.

The SAP ASE version installed with Typical option is "Adaptive Server Enterprise/16.0 SP04 PL04/EBF 30648 SMP/P/AMD64/Windows 2012 R2/ase160sp04pl04x/0/64-bit/FBO/Tue Feb 14 19:49:11 2023" by execute "SELECT @@version".

Up to now, I know the AMC is the only client GUI that I can use.

But Is it possible install AMC on the existing SAP ASE? Is there any document URL to follow?

I've searched one post : AMC for SAP ASE – How to install AMC on Windows, it seems on the new installation of SAP ASE.

But as I comment on the previous answer by Victoria, I've tried by Custom option, and finally get installation failed as attached file ( ase-suite-20230612-custom.txt ).

You need to use 'Custom' or 'Full' to install AMC.

Hi, Chris:

Thanks a lot.

I'll retry install by Custom later /* There are something interrupted recently */.

If Custom is still failed, then try Full.

Hi,
These 2 links may help you:
AMC - Administration and Management Console for SAP ASE 16.0 SP04
Managing SAP ASE from the Command Line Guide in case you have scripts that you would like to keep using, knowing that the recommendation is to start using AMC, we really emphasize on that.

Best regards,
Victoria.

Hi, Victoria :

Thanks a lot for your help, the first link seems go to "Managing SAP ASE from the Command Line Guide", would you please paste the first link again?

Up to now, I've installed the ASE with Typical option. I need a client GUI to manage the SAP ASE.

(1) Sybase Central : does not support now, and no URL to download
(2) Cockpit : does not support Http, Https UI because Adobe Flash Player is end of life.
(3) AMC: need to try, but is there any public URL to reference? Is it possible install AMC on current installed ASE (with Typical option)?

I've tried a new ASE install with Custom option, but finally it show me install failed, the log as attached ( ase-suite-20230612-custom.txt )

MSG>>> 06-12-23 12:12:07 : Remote Command and Control Agent for SAP ASE is successfully registered.
DEBUG>>> 06-12-23 12:12:07 : LastScreen.init(): install status is SUCCESS
DEBUG>>> 06-12-23 12:12:07 : LastScreen.init(): false
