BO4.2 SP5 to BO4.2 SP7

Hello,

I'have to increase the service pack version of my BO 4.2 infrastructure.

I have a Qualification server and 3 Production Server mounted in a cluster.

I will migrate in a first time the qualification server.

I have two question :

1 - Is it possible by using BO Promotion tool (CMC) to transfer documents or universe between 2 servers which are in different version of Service Pack (Qualif in 4.2SP7 <-> Production in 4.2SP5) ?

2 - Can the SP5 CLIENT tools indifferently work with SP5 AND SP7 servers?

1. it is not recommended to move higher version content to lover version servers. The promotion itself will work, most likely, but the reports/universes etc - most likely will not work after such move.
2. Again it is not recommended to use lower version clients to connect to higher version server.
For proper operation client/server pairs have to be on same version.

Hi

1. Promote is only use when you need to go between same versions or if u want update to higher SP (eg. SP5 to SP7). not in oppossite way

2. you cant connect lower version of the Client Tools to a higher version of BI. (you'll recive an error btw)
