Archivelink question

Hi,

I am not a SAP guy, but I have a project where SAP will be integrated with M-Files (BPM platform). Archivelink will be used for the integration. M-Files will be used as a document storage location. Some documents will be created in SAP and sent to M-Files - these cases we know how to implement. But then we have a case, where the document will be created in M-Files, the metadata will be sent to SAP (without the PDF). If I inderstand correctly, that document has to be added into Archivelink table. And if I understand correctly, there is a function in SAP that does that. The idea is: on the SAP side is a webservice. M-Files calls that webservice and sends the metadata (xml). The webservice dies two things: 1. createa new document and 2. adds that document into the Archivelink table. If the SAP user wants to see the visualisation of the document (PDF), he/she clicks the attachment in SAP (in SAP are the metadata on the left side and the attachments on the right side, right?). So, my question is. Is that doable? If it is, how will SAP “map” the PDF in M-Files with the object in SAP (I understand the logic when the document is created in SAP and then the PDF is sent to M-Files)? Do we have to sent M-Files unique ID?

I would appeeciate any reply 🙂

Best, Uros

Hi,

there is one solution for full automated integration of SAP attachments with any document management system, thus also with M-Files. That solution is a universal ArchiveLink connector and can answer all your requirements. It works with SAP ERP and S/4HANA on premise and private cloud.

Now I'm a bit surprised when you say  "Some documents will be created in SAP and sent to M-Files - these cases we know how to implement." because with ArchiveLink, this is really not obvious...

Indeed you need to:

1. On creation, capture the attachment binary and transfer it to M-Files + the necessary metadata retrieved from SAP

2. On Display in SAP, by default Archivlink is called... and then in the archiveling service you would need to call M-Files...

Let me know if you wish to discuss this further !
