Hello samjalees2000

Inventory is not impacted by TM packing whatsoever. TM packing is a planning function. As such, it does not change inventory level. Only after the plan is executed and a delivery is packed i.e. handling units are created, inventory levels of packaging materials may be influenced. That can be achieved with the Generation of Delivery Items for Packaging Materials function, that creates additional delivery items for packing materials based on handling units. Once the items are generated, material movements can be posted for them, thus changing the inventory levels of the packing materials.

Thanks Dominic for sharing the experience .So is it possible to link the TM packaging to the packaging done at delivery level (traditional way) or are these two independent .

Secondly if we want the External WM packaging link to the TM packaging so how can that be done as we need the handling unit and its inventory be impacted from external to SAP .

Regards,

Sam

Hello samjalees2000

You cannot copy TM package planning to delivery handling units in standard. That could be implemented with BADI_HU_AUTOPACK if required, but I do not really think that would be useful.

Once a delivery is packed i.e. handling units are created, the HU numbers will be copied to the freight order items. So the HU numbers will be directly visible in the freight order. The external WM can pick and pack an outbound delivery, thus creating HUs. That can be done e.g. with LE-IDW interface or with WHSCON IDocs depending on how the external WM is integrated.
