SAP IBP Clarification on Time Profiles

Hello Experts, I have following questions to clarify my doubts:

1. When we create Planning Levels in IBP ( e.g. PERPRODLOC), while adding the Period there is an option to select the Root for Time Profile Level. Assume in our time profile we have following levels: Day , Week, Month , Quarter , Year. There we have an option to select : PERIODID and the name says: Generic time level for dynamic data query. I would like to know what is the use of selecting PERIODID as Root instead of using Day. How does that impact the system?

2. In Time Profile Level , what is the use of 'Assigned Attributes'? How does that impact the result if we have 'DAYWEIGHT' , 'MONTHOFQUARTER' etc? I need an example with a data set to understand the concept. It will be great if you can point to some document which has some examples.

Hi,

The PERIODID attribute identifies a specific time period, and not a time profile level. For example, 25503 is the PERIODID for May 2016 as a time period, and 25504 for June 2016. You won't find these attributes in the Time Profiles app, but you may need them when defining calculations for key figures or attribute transformations.

PERIODID0 represents the lowest time profile level. If the time profile has multiple time profile levels, then PERIODID1 represents the highest level.

For example, if a time profile is defined with the levels "Day", "Technical Week", "Week", "Month", and "Year", the assignment is as follows:

  • PERIODID0: Daily periods
  • PERIODID1: Yearly periods
  • PERIODID2: Monthly periods
  • PERIODID3: Weekly periods
  • PERIODID4: Technical weekly periods

Best Regards,

Lingaiah
