Forwarding agent as a generic use

Hi Experts,

I have a query, my customer wants to create a generic Forwarding agent to use within country deliveries for local delivery companies. for example: To ship small sample shipments in Taiwan(from one CM to Taipai office)

They have forwarding agents like UPS and FedEx, but the deliveries are done by local delivery companies, which they don't want to redirect to FedEx or UPS. They want to use a generic forwarding agent code for all local delivery companies.

Since this my first time dealing forwarding agent issue, please light me up.

Thank you in advance.

What is the business benefit your customer hopes to get from such a proposal?

How will you be able to:

  • communicate with the correct party (sending of transport documents etc.)
  • be able to pay the correct party (shipment cost documents)
  • have any reporting insights if all shipments are linked to the same dummy carrier?

Hi Rob, thak you for your reply,

The client says they have FwdAgent codes set up for FedEx, UPS, etc.  However, often times these samples shipped locally within Taiwan are shipped via local delivery companies.  Rather than creating these various local delivery companies each as their own master record, we’d prefer to have a “generic” FwdAgent code to use in these cases.

They just want the ability to classify these local shipments as such and not have them just default to FedEx (or other carrier) when they are not being shipped with them.

can this be possible with route determination by creating a forwarding agent as vendor.
