How to configure production substitution?

Hi experts,

I would like you to tell me what I should do further to proceed the configuration of Product Substitution.

Ultimately what I want do realize is to full fill demand of customer(401) with product called "TEST-100-LEP" for some periods. and the product "TEST-100-LEP" can substitute original product called "TEST-100". For instance, as the below image indicates, I want demand of customer 401 for TEST-100 to be substituted by TEST-100-LEP on Oct and Nov only.

And What I have done so far are mainly split into two parts.

First is to create Product Substitution MDT in MDT App and assign it to a Planning Area.

Secondly, I register records in relevant MDTs(such as Product, Location Product, Production Source Header, UOM Conversion factor, Customer product, Location source, Customer source, and importantly Product Substitution MDT)

So the question is what should I do next? I know the product substitution is supported only by optimizer. if we use optimizer, I assume I need to use some KFs to control the cost for substitution but I do now know their name. Thank you for reading and it would be great if you guided me toward next step.

Thank you for trying to helping me out. the URL you told me is about Location Product Substitution and what I want to configure is Product Substitution. So the way to configure it seems to be different. Am I right? or configuration setting are common for both?

Hello Kento,

for product substitution you need an according customer source for substitute product TEST-100-LEP from DC 301 to customer 401. In the periods where you don't want any substitution, we need to disable this customer source. For example by adjustments to 0 or according validities. Without this transport option the optimizer can't substitute the original product. With allowed late delivery, you may still get some substitutions from future periods though.
There is currently no validity for product substitution available.
