are you referring to the bucket consumption in the PDS and PPM? It is mainly used in the SNP module SNP (Supply Network Planning) and bucket oriented CTM (Capable-To-Match) to calculate the resource consumption when planned order are created in those module.
It is also used in the PP/DS module to calculate the resource consumption for mixed resources. Those resources are used in the PP/DS and SNP environment and in this case every PP/DS planned order consumes both the continuous resource and bucket resource of the resource. That way any downstream SNP/CTM planning sees the PP/DS orders already as initial bucket consumption.
