SAP Analytics for Cloud and SAP Ariba - Data Connections

Dear All,

Looking at the SAP Standard Content on SAC for Ariba, when it comes to data connection for SAC and Ariba, I could see there are two different ways data can be brought into SAC from Ariba.

1. Using Datasphere

2. Using oData Connections.

However, when I look at some of the SAP Learnings, the oData Connection part requires a kind of Data Lake created in SAP BTP and then SAP BTP providing an oData Connection to transfer this data to SAC.

My query is, why do we need two different types of connections. Can't the stories (like Contract Management ) also have the data coming from Datasphere?

If someone could explain the technical limitations / designs behind this approach that would be a great help.

Thank you,

Srinivas

Hi Srinivas,

First of all SAP started to build some standard business content -most of them recent ones- for both SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud that's why SAC side of saying connection is live connection to SAP Datasphere. For example SAP Ariba: Spend Analysis for SAC.

Others that you gave the example SAP Procurement: Contract Management  seems to be based on only SAP S/4HANA Cloud, not SAP S/4HANA on-premise and live connection not OData connection.

Understand the document mentions OData though!

In general there is no direct connection from SAP Ariba for SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Datasphere!
