Well, the SAP TechEd Las Vegas Call for Proposals is now CLOSED. Our committee is currently working on the selection of the most valuable community sessions.

Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé sang, “Barcelona – Such a beautiful horizon, Barcelona – Like a jewel in the sun” and once you lay your eyes on the beauty of the Mediterranean, you’ll be singing right along with them.

You would like to be join SAP TechEd Barcelona and sing along with all of us? No problem!

>>We are pleased to invite you to submit content for SAP TechEd Barcelona!<<

This year, for the first time, we have 10 sessions available to members of the SAP community. This is YOUR chance to make SAP TechEd 2016 a powerful combination of meaningful content, networking, and fun.

Sounds great, right?

The SAP Mentors Program is driving this initiative and we would love you to submit your session suggestion by no later than May 6, for consideration by our committee (of SAP Mentors) and track leads. Share the essence of what you are doing with SAP technology that is new, special, unique or different. Tell about best practices and experiences around technical implementation. Explain others how they can achieve fantastic outcome! Speak about topics that go beyond the “standard” SAP TechEd topics!

If chosen, you will be a speaker at SAP TechEd Barcelona, Spain, that will take place in the Fira Barcelona Gran Via from November 8 - 10, 2016.

>>SUBMIT NOW<<

Don’t procrastinate - submission deadlines are quickly approaching.

Important Factors:

  • Submissions are due by May 6.
  • All submissions will be vetted by our steering committee and SAP TechEd Track leads, with final selections made in early June.
  • You must:
    • NOT be an SAP Employee. These tickets are reserved for opportunities for the external SAP community
    • Be an active contributor to the SAP community, as evidenced by your participation here on the SAP Community Network
    • Be able to demonstrate to us in your submission why your content deserves to be heard – above all the other submissions
    • Be willing to tell us something we’ve never heard before
    • Be experienced, knowledgeable, and possess excellent communication skills
    • Demonstrate proficiency in English
    • Meet all deadlines including submitting your presentation on time
    • Be available to present during the entire conference
    • Be able to fund your travel and expenses to TechEd. We’ll take care of the coveted ticket

SAP TechEd 2016 – What kind of content is to be developed?

Technical Know-How and education at its best!

The questions to always ask from SAP TechEd content perspective:

  • What is the key technical challenge of a particular session and how to solve it from a technical perspective?
  • Which technical job profiles will be addressed in the session?
  • What are the key takeaways for the desired job profiles
  • No marketing, pure value prop session and/or even sales pitches!
  • Community Sessions should distinguish from the “standard” SAP TechEd Sessions, as they go beyond the strategic tracks and hot topics (listed below). Choose topics that are relevant to and valued by the community and try attract the passionate and large audience because this is a special topic that is not addressed in the “standard” TE track.

Summary & Resources:

Looking forward to see and hear you at SAP TechEd Barcelona!

Cheers, Kati

I can't emphasize enough what a career-changing opportunity this is. For me, the chance to be a community speaker at SAP TechEd 2008 was a huge step forward professionally. I wrote about it in this 2013 blog post: Why (and How) You Should Become an SAP TechEd Speaker.

Cheers,

Thorsten

Thanks for your encouragement Thorsten! Your blog sharing your experience and listing the benefits as a speaker at SAP TechEd is wonderful!

With these additional Community Sessions and the new European location, I hope our community members will see this as a career-changing opportunity as well.

We got a TREMENDOUS crop for the Las Vegas sessions -- once we finally figure out how to select the final 10, you won't want to miss any of these!

If you missed the chance to submit for Las Vegas, take advantage of the opportunity to go to Barcelona! Basically, listen to thorstenster and submit!!!

I was about to ask for examples on wanted topics (as some kind of inspiration), but I think that's what you already gave with the link to Announcing Community Sessions at SAP TechEd Las Vegas! , right?

Yes, I can send you also the list of 2014 community sessions. But to get inspiration just go back to yourself and think about what are you passionate about? What is it what the community is interested in. Don't "warm up" old topics, try to tap into NEW and maybe become a revolutionist for a niche? Be brave to step out old sessions - give us something inspirational! Give us Best Practises, REAL good examples... you can turn in more than one suggestion. Go for it!

i have attended 2 TechEd's so far, first as an attendee, and then as a speaker. in both cases, it has been very enjoyable and a great opportunity to network in addtion to seeing the latest on tap from SAP. who knows, maybe you get to meet Thorsten to learn about his career change? i certainly did.

since there is only one week left, i would encourage those who are sitting on the fence to submit early as their sessions may be gone before they know it. i just did mine and would certainly welcome more company.

have fun!

Thanks a lot for your encouragement gregory.misiorek! Indeed, the Event itself is MAGIC! We have the submission tool still open for a couple of days. You don't have to have your presentations ready yet - Just sing up with nice Title and Abstract, be sure that this is interesting for the community and not one of the sessions that you hear every year  and clarify that you can travel (.. clarify with your partner, your manager) and make sure you can pay for T&E.   Looking forward to receive many more sessions  GO FOR IT!

Hello, thanks so much for all your contributions! We have received over 100 community session proposals for Barcelona. Unfortunately we are not able to take you all with us - so we needed to decide in our committee, and we have selected 10.

All Speakers are now informed, and I have also emailed the contributors whose sessions were not selected. Please do not be too disappointed and we encourage you to submit next year again!

In the next days you will see here an announcement with the 10 sessions, as well as blogs from the speakers around their topic.

Stay tuned - Cheer, Kati
