Types of Master Data:
Site
A site is an independent unit that has its own Inventory Management and orders its own stock. A site can, however, be considered as a customer, since sales functions, such as delivering and billing, are carried out by head office for the site. This is why a site is always maintained in SAP Retail in its capacity as a customer.
A distribution center is also a vendor (creditor), as it supplies merchandise to other sites.
. Subdivision of stores with departments - If you want to treat the existing departments in a store as standalone units, you must define the departments as Shops, and the Store site category as Department Store. In this context, the department store represents the organizational grouping of individual shops. This concept is used for detailed inventory management, planning level , reporting level and if we want to process departments as independently operating units than it is defined as shop.
. Blocking sites - This business process allows you to block a site for certain
activities in its capacity as a customer or vendor.
Reasons for blocking a site - site is being renovated or site is changing its
location. A block can apply for a specific period of time.
Business partners
Business partners are legal or natural persons with whom you have a business relationship. You enter data on business partners in master records. Master records contain all data, known as master data, necessary for processing business transactions.
Article master data
The article master contains information on all the articles that a company procures or produces, stores, and sells. It is the company's central source for retrieving article-specific data. This information is stored in individual article master records.
Grouping of Articles
The article master contains information on all the articles that a company procures or produces, stores, and sells. It is the company's central source for retrieving article-specific data. This information is stored in individual article master records. Articles can be grouped in two criteria u2013
