SAP Community Fan 2020 badge not awarded after 21 days of consecutive activity

I'm targeting the "SAP Community Fireball 2020" badge. So, I made sure to be active on the site. I track my activity using the Habits app on Android. To date, I've been active for 21 days, doing at least 1 of the suggested tasks. However, I have not even gotten the "SAP Community Fan 2020" badge, which requires only 5 days of consecutive activities.

Is the badge still active / working? Should I email SAP Community?

I got the "SAP Community Fan 2020" badge on July 10, 2020. As of today, I have been active for 34 days.

Can it be that you missed a date without realizing (as described in point 2 from my answer)?

veselina.peykova I'm not sure about point #2. I usually make it a point to check the sites after 9AM my time (UTC+8). I will just continue to observe.

I just looked at my activity log and it would seem that I should be getting the Fireball badge soon, but I still do not have it. While the eligibility criteria for Fireball and SAP Community Fan is a bit different, they are similar in a few aspects, and this might help you find out why you have not received any of them yet:

1. They are not granted automatically, but manually, once a month (as mentioned in the blog announcing the new missions). It could happen that you are eligible, but they did not run yet the report to select the list of users and grant the badges. In her latest blog Weekly Mission & Badge Roundup: June 15 – June 21, 2020 oddss mentions: "Important: this round of Fan and Fireball awards was for anyone who completed the missions by end of May. If you completed this mission after that, your badge will come in the next round."

2. They measure the activity midnight to midnight UTC. This means that if yesterday you posted the last update at 7 AM and today your first update is at 8 AM, you missed the deadline and you reset the counter. I suppose that this is what happened to me, otherwise I have lo logical explanation of what I could have done wrong. Sadly, the activity log from the user profile does not show the exact time when an action was performed, which means that it is a bit harder to track the progress.

3. There is some chance that there is a bug when they select the users or grant the badges, unfortunately only the members of the SAP Community implementation and support team could verify this. One option is to write them a mail (as you intended), another option is to wait a bit more time. The implementation team also read the posts with tag SAP Community, there is a chance that a member of the team will respond to your question here and give you more details on the subject.

In my case I would wait for a few weeks and see what will be the outcome.

Hi Geff,

I can add the following to Veselina's detailed answer (thank you, Veselina!):

Because the Fan and Fireball badges are both awarded based on a report, and Fan is not a prerequisite for earning Fireball (i.e. you can earn them both in the same streak), you won't necessarily see one of the badges in your earned missions before you see the other one. It all depends on when your streak/s start/s and end/s.

It's also important to remember that streaks aren't limited to within a single month: your 30-day streak may start in one month and end in the next month. Since the report is pulled only once a month and covers up to the end of the prior month, then for example if on August 31 you happen to be on Day 29 of a streak, and on September 1 you reach Day 30 of your streak, you won't receive your Fireball badge in the streak badges that we award in September, because the September batch of badges is for streaks that ended in August; instead you will see it sometime in October after we've pulled the report that runs through the end of September.

I recommend a lot of patience with these two missions, as Veselina suggests. Good things come to those who wait... and participate in SAP Community; don't get discouraged!
