Extend comment characters limit in discussions (Coffee Corner)

Hello there,

not a bug, but a feedback and suggestion: Comments on questions and answers are limited to 600 characters.

Is there a way to either raise that limit or better yet to not have a limit at all for discussions (= New Coffee Corner)?

600 characters is not much to work with:

When I look at how long some replies can get, it could possibly stifle discussions. Especially the most meaningful get a lot of longer posts.

can't you put it on 999.999 or something (the highest possible)? Or can you think of any reasons, why there should be a cap at all?

If you need to have one.... maybe 10.000?

I would set a limit for performance issues/spam. I think 10,000 chracters should be enough. Never saw a reply/question longer than that.

Yeah, 10.000 is a good compromise.

Hello Moshe,

as I was testing (Testing discussion creation... what can it do and what not?) the discussion creation I found that the limit is only on the comments to a discussion, but not on the start post (the discussion itself?). In regard to spam attacks etc it would probably make sense to put the limit on that, too.

I can easily change maximum limits for the question title and comments, but other max limits require further implementation.
