Issue search help for specification in component value assignment type

Hi,

A user from my company told me lately that the search help for a substance in a composition value assignment was acting strange. I try to describe the behavior.

1st situation

You have a selection list of only 1 specification in CG02. Next you open a composition VAT for adding an additional specification in the composition. If you don't know the specification, you can use a search help. Via for example an identifier you will find all the specifications that are relevant according the search filter. This is OK.

2nd situation

You have the situation that you have a list of 2 or more specifications in CG02. You select one of the specifications and open a composition VAT again. Now when you are using the search help for finding the correct specification to add in the composition, the system only shows specifications from the initial list in CG02. Any other specification seems to be filtered out already. This behaviour is not what I expected. I expected the same behavior as described in the 1st scenario: showing all available specification using only the filter of the search help screen.

I must admit that I never checked and have seen this before and maybe it is standard behavior of SAP (although it looks strange to me). Can anyone confirm that they have the same behaviour  in their systems or that this is really a bug in our system.

Thanks for any answer,

Regards,

Paul

Hello Paul,

I don't have this behavior in my systems.

This behavior doesn't make sense to me and is in my opinion a bug.

However I could envision that it might be caused by custom coding - if you have programed some custom searches into CG02 - please double check.

Hope this helps

Thanks Mark. No we have no additional programming done here.

Dear Paul

I agree to what Mark has explained. As it is not very "probable" that you have established here own coding (which would not be that easy in this case)  to get results.

E.g. if you enter in one spec CAS nr. 50-00-0 but the othere spec of hit list does not have this identifier assigned. why should system show this spec only?

You should try to reproduce this system reaction in a "qual" system and analyse with help of ABAPer.

Hi Cristoph,

Indeed the search is all standard. Development and quality system all behave in the same manner. Unfortunately I have no ABAP-er at hand and not much time to do it myself. I also don't think there is a user parameter or so involved. So I think I will involve SAP.
