Hello Experts,
My question is that we are not using Project system (PS) module, so we are booking project cost through SAP PM Work orders, Due to which our maintenance cost is not clarify after end of month. So is there any way we can book the project cost separately and show it separately.
Hi Keshu,
You can simply use a different PM order type to segregate in the reporting from a maintenance. While for PM activities you likely have some Preventive, Corrective, etc order types, create a Project order as a new PM order type. Next you can customise its layout and fields selection accordingly and even build up hierarchies.
Internal Order is a bit too simple from a functional perspective and might not be a target functionality for SAP in a future (removed from a Cloud version).

Hi Keshu,
Internal Order with Investment management can be used which is meant for AUC (Asset Under Construction) or CWIP (Capital Work in Progress). It also generates AUC assets against each IO (Investment Management)
on this IO you can load cost from PO, or issue internal material and other cost.
Google Internal Order with Investment management you will get lots of document for your support.

Hi Kashu,
1. Create Internal Order (IO) and release IO
2. Put budget or plan value in IO (Optional)
3. Post COst on IO (from PO-GR, PO-Service Entry Seet, Direct FI entries etc.)
4. Evaluate with Actual vs plan or with Budget
5. DO the settlement to cost center or Asset or etc.
Please google for transaction codes if you do not know them.

Hi Keshu,
I am not sure which SAP system you are using.
But you can use the Internal Order for booking project cost. In many cases Internal order is used instead of Project system.

Hi Keshu, agreed with expert Shakeel and adding little more thoughts:
Both Internal Order and Project Systems needs activation using OKKP in the relevant controlling area. Internal Order is most commonly used for collecting PM cost. But WBS can also be used to collect cost using PS module. The month end process will be similar in both the cases.
WBS is a more sophisticated object where you can collect costs with hierarchical structure (I can see this in large shut-down/revamp projects which are purely maintenance activities). Using networks, you can have scheduling capabilities, which is not present in IO.
But for regular PM activities with simple process, you can use IO instead of WBS.

Hi Keshu,
Internal order functionality falls in Finance Module. You do not need Project System for this.

Sir,
We have not Project system module, so we purchasing all machinery and others materials through Asset,
but during running of project we required lots materials which we issue through SAP plant maintenance orders.
which hamper our maintenance cost. So we want to issues project sundry materials through separate orders and at the end of month we can separate project and maintenance cost separate.
