EHS | Mass Import of Declarable Substances on Compliance Data

Hello everyone!

I am an ABAP Developer, and I'd like a contribution and/or POV from the community about a very specific request I got.

A client is implementing the 'Compliance Data' aspect on EHS on a SAP S/4HANA 1909, and wants to upload data about Declarable Substances.

To make a long story short, and also because I'm not a domain expert, I'll explain by an example. 

A list of declarable substances on a single item can be entered manually with the App 'Search compliance information' on a single material

After selecting a material, there is a Tab for Declarable SubstancesThen you edit the declaration (there is no revision at this point, this is the first upload)Then 'Fill with absent' to set everything to zeroAnd finally setting the desired substances

Now, there are thousands of materials to be entered and getting a human (or more than one) to perform data entry is inefficient, prone to error, and probably also a subtle form of torture.

Fact is, EHS is built - as far as I understand - with BOPF and an executable report who performs SELECTS and MODIFY on the DB tables is very difficult and maybe even impossible.

Using BOPF API requires specific knowledge. If anyone can share some resources (especially if related to EHS) is very very appreciated, but the matter still stands that the requirement is tied to a one-use-only program, and the stakeholders don't want to spend lots of money/effort on it.

What do you think? Do we have alternatives?

I thought about Auto-Idocs, but again I'm not expert on the matter and do not know if there are any suitable ones: I did find SUBMAS, but that is to create new substances - I think - and not creating a revision list with a set of substances on an existing Compliance Data BO.
