SAP PaPM Analytical Privilege with tagged query

Hi Experts,

We have a requirement to bring the master data and hierarchy from an external source and also restrict the read access for certain users. But we see that with the tagged query concept, we are able to get in the data from the source and tag them to the properties of master data except for 'READ' and 'WRITE' access tags which are currently not available.

Is there any way to handle this Read and Write access which can be given without actually storing the data from the source system in PaPM internally in the field (as it would require us to manually update the master data everytime there is any change in the source system). Please let us know.

Thanks,

Soundarya C Adiga

Hello edwin.1

Greetings

Unfortunately, I haven't solved this as i believe this is a current product limitation. I do have workaround solution but as the standard table that stores the FIELDS related properties (as mentioned in my above comment) lies under SAP_PAPM schema which is owned and governed by SAP, we do not have authorizations to update the tables underneath this schema 😞

I had posted this question in another blog (link below) where there is an option to load data in model table where the records exceed 20,000. There we can use SQL statements to upload, however this is limited only to a model table and not to a FIELD as model table are custom created (per customer) and they are under SAP_PAPM_ADMIN schema which is owned by the customer and hence has authorizations to update using SQL in SAP HANA Database explorer.

https://blogs.sap.com/2022/05/26/sap-papm-cloud-uploading-input-data-efficiently/comment-page-1/#com...

I am also waiting for SAP to respond on updating mass records in a field like you 😞

Thanks

Hi Soundarya,

Greetings!

As I understand, you are trying to use Analytic Privileges (Read and Write access) for Query based masterdata and hierarchy from an external source.

Please be kindly informed that Analytic Privileges (Read and Write access) using Query based masterdata and hierarchy is not possible as of this moment.

In case you want to use Analytic Privileges (Read and Write access), you may utilize and setup internal masterdata and hierarchy using the Master data and Hierarchy table via the General Entities section of the Modeling within the SAP PaPM Cloud application. For more information, you may check this blogpost: https://blogs.sap.com/2022/06/03/sap-profitability-and-performance-management-cloud-analytic-privile...

Meanwhile, you can get updates on such new features being released by following the tag PaPMCloudWhatsNew on our SAP Community.

I hope this information helps. Thank you.

Kind Regards,
Arlie

Hello Arlie,

Greetings

Thanks for your response.

If we are reporting in SAP PaPM Cloud, then the analytical privileges come very handy, however, there is one drawback.

In order to use the analytical privileges we have to manually maintain the master data in PaPM fields.

I believe we can automate this if we are able to update the back-end table /NXI/TP1ENVFVAU which is defined under the SAP_PAPM schema. We can write a stored procedure and schedule it to update the Master Data for the necessary fields from the true source.

Unfortunately, i believe there are no privileges to update the table /NXI/TP1ENVFVAU because SAP is not allowing any updates to table under the SAP_PAPM schema. Is there any way are allowed to update these privileges? This would help solving the issue of manually maintaining the master data for the fields where we need to update the Analytical Privileges by automating it as suggested above.

Thanks

Amogh

Hi amogh_kulkarni_1210,

Did you solve the security of your environment? If you do, how did you do? We have the same here, we have 4 cost center fields (Waterfall alloc) with more than 2.000 elements each, and maintaining 4 fields with 2.000 elements is way too manual.
