Fixed Assets with Zero NBV not posting depreciation after increasing the Use life.

HI SAP Experts,

I have a number of assets which have had zero NBV for a couple of years. I want to increase their useful economic life (UEL) as we will be using them for 2 more years. In the past I have changed UEL in the asset master data, this has changed the planned depreciation in the asset explorer and then when AFAB is run it creates the depreciation posting. However, this has not worked this time. I have run AFAB + AFAR for the asset numbers hoping it triggers depreciation, but this has not worked. Any ideas how to resolve this. Many thanks in advance.

Hello Paul, Once NBV of asset is Zero what amount you are expecting as planned monthy depreciation. Do you want to post depreciation below NBV ? If yes it seems same need to enabled in depreciation area & key

Thanks Sumesh. The Depreciation area and key are all engaged. Two years ago we carried out a similar exercise and this all worked. So in 2021 we had an asset which was full depreciated to zero NBV. In Feb 2022 we realised that we were going to use the asset for all of 2022 as well, so we extended the life by another year and this all worked fine. However, when I have on the same exercise this year it doesn’t work. I have tried running AFAB to push it through and AFAR but still no luck.
