FI-AA posting period management

Hello SAP community,

Can someone please explain the logic behind system behavior in the following regard: -

1. In the 'Manage company code settings- asset accounting specific'; the last closed fiscal year is 2021 and the last day in cl. FY is 31.03.2022.

2. When we're trying to open the posting period 12.2023 for account type 'Asset 'in the 'manage posting periods' application, the following error shows up: First close all the fiscal years prior to 2023.

We understand that in AA, a maximum of 2 FY can be kept open but, in this case, we're not trying to open a new fiscal year (2024) rather just the 12th period in FY 2023. Can somebody please explain me why this error occurs?

The subledger AA should be closed before GL periods are closed. 
If all periods are closed in GL for 2022, then you should close 2022 in the Make Company Code Settings app.
