BPC (NetWeaver) - additional period groupings in TIME dimension

Hello,

We have a 16 period fiscal calendar. Some of our team view periods 12-16 as if they were a single period (P12) whereas other teams need to see the individual periods. I would therefore like a member in our TIME dimension that combines P12-16. At first I naively tried to do this by putting an additional parent above periods 12-16, but this broke the year/quarter to date calculations. I'm guessing it doesn't like the leaf members being at different hierarchy levels.

I'm now thinking a calculated member could be the solution, but that's where I'm reaching the limit of my BPC + Google skills.

Attached is an export of our TIME dimension as it currently stands. Note the DUMMY member is there so that there is a "YEAR" level member first; without this the half year members were breaking year/quarter to date calculations.

Any help would be most appreciated, this has been driving me mad!

Sorry, but BPC standard was designed assuming 12 months in the year. You will have incorrect calculation in some cases with 16 periods.

Combine 12-16 to 12 on data load!

P.S. If you want to see separate data for 13,14,15,16 - you may create 4 additional audittrail members.

Thanks for the reply Vadim.... having 16 periods doesn't seem to cause any issues, I've already got that working and it all behaves itself. My issue is how to additionally have a member which would combine periods 12-16.

I know I could combine them in the data load, but I have some teams that need to see them separately, and some combined, hence wanting both options.

Sorry, but some script logic, rules calculations and consolidation will be affected.

Please, don't have 16 periods if you don't want to have troubles.

And I have already told you - create additional audittrail members.

Load normal 1-12 to main LOAD

And 13-16 to LOAD13, LOAD14,LOAD15,LOAD16
