Why does the field Cross-Plant Material Status in the Product Master does not block Sales Orders ?

Hello SAP S/4HANA Cloud Community

I work in Product Support for S4HANA Cloud and id like to share questions i receive through incidents with the Cloud Community as i think it would be beneficial to share the information

Question :

I have maintained a Material Status , for example blocked in the Change Material App ( MM02 ) on the basic data view in the field X-Plant Mat.Status 

When creating a Sales Order , i can still create and save ok with any error / warning .

Why isnt the Material Statuses functionality working ?

The field Field Cross-Plant Material Status and its SSCUI ( Define Material Statuses 102618 ) only effects the following application areas :

•Materials management (for example, in purchasing and in inventory management)

•Production planning and control

•Plant maintenance

•Warehouse management

•Costing with a quantity structure

Sales Documents are not covered.

To block Sales Documents , use the field 'Field Cross-distribution-chain material status' on the Sales Org 1 in the Product Master and the SSCUI Define Sales Statuses 102433

HI Enda,

How about for ASN ?

PO is created when Material status is allowed to use. Later material status is set for blocked status.

However, system allows to create ASN (VL31N) w.r.t Purchase Order.

How to stop this ?
