Hello,
I have several questions related to transport request with transport type: Central Business Configuration.
Your answer for a part of these questions is also appreciated.

1. In what occasion will a transport request with Transport type: Central Business Configuration be created?

I found several blog posts and help article that this type request can be generated by a change in Org structure, Hotfix, upgrade, Scope extension. Is there any other occasion that this type request would be generated?

2. Do configuration experts always have to release this type of transport request? why some requests were released automatically?

Is there any problem for them to ignore these request? I confirmed that a transport request with transport type: Customizing can be released without releasing old transport request with transport type: CBC. I am also wondering why some requests were released automatically...

3. What is staging type/CBC staging?

I found "Display CBC staging" tab with a transport request with Transport type: Central Business Configuration. what is the reason for this?

Transport requests of the type Central Business Configuration are linked to a CBC Staging ID. In the transport request overview you can select Display CBC Staging to navigate to the CBC staging area to get more related information.

why tracking or displaying status of CBC Staging ID is important?

Kind Regards,

Eitaro

Hi Eitaro,

Answers to some of your questions:

Q1: CBC transports are created when you set the milestone after working on scoping projects. Also, when SAP has an update/upgrade on CBC contents, new transports are created.

Q2: When and how to release these transports depend on your settings. If the automatic release doesn't work, you can take the ownership and manually release them. Do you have to release all transports? Not, if you don't need them. However, if there is a dependency, you have to release them in sequence.

Q3: I treat Staging ID like a batch ID to help you identify which batches of changes are related with the transport. Plus the support colleagues use them to identify relevant entries in the backend.

Regards,

George
