Hi
I have many supply areas ( basically one near every work center line). From WM through control cycle, I will stage material for GI to prodn order. My question is if backflush is to be done , I have to map supply area to IM location. So should I create 1 IM location for each supply area or 1 SL for all supply areas ? What is the best practice and what are the pros and cons of 1 SL Vs Multiple SL
Hi,
Naming Convention is all upto business convenience. As i mentioned already, based on the stock maintenance level in your company, you can either maintain it in 1:1 ratio, or keep one storage location and assign the same to different supply areas.

Hi,
Supply area is maintained at the plant level. For a single plant infinite supply areas can be mapped. If you are maintaining all your stock in a single storage location then you can use one SL. It all depends on the stock maintenance. Generally we maintain different storage location and supply area, like 1:1 ratio, and map that to work centres as well, so we can have clarity in inventory and consumption reports.
