Send back to previous approver in Approval process

We have below two requirements for PR / PO approval process.

1. Approver wants to send back the PR / PO to the previous level approver, instead of rejecting and sending back to the initiator directly
2. Approver wants to manually add an additional ad-hoc approver during the approval process.

We are planning to use Flexible Workflow for PR / PO. Please let us know if these requirements can be met through flexible workflow.

If Flexible workflow doesn't allow this, please suggest an alternate way to meet these requirements.

Did you try with the option of forwarding the work item. The Approver can forward the work item to another person

1. Case 1 - The Previous approver (instead of rejection)

2. Case 2 - A additional approver

If you are looking for a supported way to do this that you can achieve through config or minimal changes, I dont think there is one.

I have similar scenarios in my workflows and I achieve both of these by manually forwarding the workitem to the desired approver.
