S/4 Service Order : Issue with final settlement of internal order to CO-PA

Dear S/4 Service Experts,

Note: This issue is related to S/4HANA 2021 On-Premise solution.

We have a potential issue in figuring out when the internal order related to a service order, needs to be settled to CO-PA. The business requirement is to do the final settlement, after both costs and revenues are posted to the internal order. Until the revenue is recognised (invoicing), the internal order will be in WIP and will be collecting all the costs related to the service order. Once the internal order is completed, then the final settlement is posted to CO-PA.

But the issue here is, the completion of the service order sets the internal order status to Completed. At this stage, the invoice has not been generated and the actual revenue is not posted to the internal order. I remember in the old CRM Service days, the invoicing can be done even when the service order was not set to "Completed". So the service planner can set TECO of the service order, once all the items are invoiced to the customer.

But in S/4 Service, completion of the service order is a pre-requisite even to release for billing. This sets the internal order already to completed, even before the actual revenue is posted to the internal order. Because of this only the collected costs are settled to CO-PA.

How could we solve this issue related to final settlement of the internal order. Do we need implement a custom solution or is there a possibility to work with status management.

Hello Siraj,

Ive updated the tags to include PLM Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)/Plant Maintenance (PM) and FIN Cost Object Controlling as the issue is for Onpremise and handled by these tag areas.

Hi Enda,

Thanks for the information.

The question is related to S/4 Service Management process, and the new tags that you have assigned are not exactly covering the S/4 service solution. EAM is the old CS solution, and not the new S/4 service management.

It would be great if someone from the S/4 service cloud version also comment, how this is handled in the cloud version. Then I could look at these suggestions.

Hi juliusenglert ,

Could you please look at this query and help us with your expertise. Internal Order status is set to TECO, when the service order is completed, and this is the event when the costs and revenues from internal order are settled to COPA.

But we do not want the service order status to be set to "Completed" before the actual invoice is generated, and the actual revenue is posted to the internal order. Could you check this and suggest an alternative for this issue.
