Restrict Duplicate Inspection Lot Creation for same Batch with same material

Dear Experts.

Here's our process:

  1. Warehouse will do GR several times for same material and same batch with same purchase order item.
  2. For the first GR, an inspection lot will be generated and the stock will be posted to Quality Inspected.
  3. QC will do 331 to perform sampling and after inspection QA will release this batch.
  4. For subsequent GR with same batch, it will go to same inspection lot and the stock will be auto moved to UU status.

Here's my question:

If QC take all the quantity of first GR to do sampling, and this inspection lot is not released by QA, during this time, warehouse do a second GR, then there'll be a new inspection lot generated.

But if QC only take partial quantity of first GR to do sampling, and no matter this inspection lot is released or not, the second GR will go to same inspection lot.

I'm very confused: why would system work like this? Is there any special scenario? Thanks.

Regards

Steven

The system makes the determination based on the system status changing from SPRQ to SPCO. This also sets a indicator in the QALS table that stock has been fully posted.

When the stock posting complete indicator is set, then new inspection lots are created. It does not consider whether a UD has been made or not.

So in your case, because you posted out all the stock via sampling, the indicator gets set becasue QC consumed all of the receipted material.

Hi Craig S,

Thanks for your answer. It helps me to under this scenario clearly from technical perspective.

Could you please explain it from business view? Why new inspection lot will generate if previous inspection lot are

completely consumed? Thanks.
