Advanced Variant Configuration - Activate variant characteristic value from future date

Hello All,

I have a question related to Engineering Change Management (linked to Advanced VC product).

The business scenario involves making use of global characteristic across multiple AVC configurable products. Not all characteristic values are valid for all models. To achieve this we activate required characteristic values at material master - classification tab.

Now lets say, we have :

Common Class - Class C1

Characteristic (under Class C1) - Char C with values C.1, C.2, C.3, C.4

Material A - Class C1 - C.1, C.2 (activate only these char values) at material master

Material B - Class C1 - C.3, C.4 (activate only these char values) at material master

How can we activate new characteristic value 'C.5' (of an existing characteristic Char C) from a future date using ECM for material A only ?

The 'classification tab' is not available in 'MM02 - Schedule Changing of Material' transaction for future date.

In case ECM is not activated, AVC cannot support activation of 'characteristic value' using dependency (as date comparison syntax is not supported in AVC - https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2811232)

Can anyone of you please suggest a solution to meet above requirement ?

Plz Explore characteristic Group in Advance VC. It has Ability to maintain assignment of characteristics within with ECM.

Hi Ankit,

If you want to restrict values C1 and C2 for Material A can you not use constraints, provided Material A is a configurable Material ?

Hello ankitmehrotra,

If this is a true material variant that is tied to a configurable material (KMAT) you will need to do that in the MRP3 screen not the classification screen.
