Hello experts!
I would like to ask a question about Purchase Requisition item text - short text - item description in Manage Purchase Requisition Professional.
Currently when the short item text is completed and then a material is selected then the material description overrides the short text.
In a picture, there is a manual added short text:
When we change the material, item description is overwritten by description of new material:
We do not want this to happen. When the text is entered manually, it should stay the same. Is it possible to maintain some rules to achieve it?
Thank you
Hi,
It is not possible to prevent the overwriting of the Item description even after the user changes multiple material numbers. If the issue is prevalent, you should consider reviewing the Material description in the Material master and change it accordingly.
Is this description communicated to the supplier? If its the case, you should consider using the Item text options (from Material master or PIR to Purchase order) instead of changing the Item description every time.

Hi Veronika,
What's the business reason to have the same default item description (entered manually) even after changing the material number? Can you please explain?

Hi Jai,
the business reason is when creating PR, the user always changes the item description to make it easier to understand, so they can control it better.
The problem occurred when the user selected the wrong material code and updated the item description at PR creation. The user then updates the correct item ID and the system reloads the item field description. The item description updated by the user has disappeared.

Hi,
Are you using SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition or SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition?
