Please can you tell me why valuation type is mandatory in sales order?

Hi all,

I need to create a credit memo request with a reference to a billing document... on the previous documents there was no valuation type entered but now when i want to create/save the credit memo request it asks in incompletion log the Valuation type but i am not able to enter it in the field in the excise duty tab nor batch field.. i checked the incompletion procedures both for the sales document header and item but there is not a valuation type field in them.

I also checked the MBEW table for that particular material and there is no valuation type entered for that valuation area.

So my question is where does it come from or is this not a SAP standard functionality?

Go to vf02, input that billing document and execute and immediately, you can see at the bottom, some message would have been triggered. Check what message it is.

Hi Lakshmipathi,

sorry for the name mistake.

The issue has been resolved by itself i just canceled the credit memo and created it again and it worked.

The check for valuation type is in one custom program and it is checking z-tables.

Seems to be not a standard issue. By the way, did you check the related material master ? Is the Accounting tabs are maintained properly ? Also, check the plant field is not blank in the credit memo request

thank you for your answer.

The plant is there but i don't want to enter the valuation type at all as it is not in the preceding documents as well.

It lets me save the document and create a billing document however no accounting document is issued as there is an incompletion due to the missing valuation type and i don't know where this incompletion may come from.
