MDG Consolidation - material activation CR types

Hi,

In configuration activities for master data consolidation, I am trying to "configure activation for material". Not all change request types are appearing in the drop down to select CR type for option "activation via CR type".

Observation - only CR types which have business activity MATB are appearing in the selection dropdown.

Question: Are there any restrictions on the type of Change Requests which you can use with consolidation "activation with change request"?

Tried to search in standard documentation and couldn't found any restrictions mentioned and the standard help for this config activity does mention both single-object and multi-object CR. Based on standard documentation I did remove the enhancement checks from step 00.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Anuj

Hello Anuj,

Greetings.

I hope you are doing well.

Consolidation with change request would require a Mass Change Request Type (Business Activity - MATB) as consolidation is not a single object process. With consolidation you would be able to process multiple object at the same time and it is logical to use only mass change request types.

Saikat.

Thanks, Saikat for the response. I wonder why it's not clearly written in SAP help documentation, if consolidation only supports MOPs then I am sure it would be mentioned somewhere in standard documentation, and I am just not able to find it.

What confuses me further is the text from standard help for configuration "configure material activation", it clearly mentions single-object CR type:

  • If you are using Master Data Consolidation with MDG and if you choose to activate with change requests, the Maximum Record field is made available. You can use this field to define the number of records allowed for each change request. If you enter nothing the system defaults to 1 record for each change request. The maximum number of records you can enter is determined by the Change Request type and is either 1 or 100 depending on if the change request type is a single-object or multi-object change request type.

Hi Anuj,

You can use CR Types having business activities that support MASS and LOAD actions. Also, currently it doesn't support parallel CR types.
