Hi All,
We have the Equipment-Asset synchronization active - which means we can create asset based on equipment update. The fields synced with asset classes are - Equipment category, object type (screenshot attached)
If the above 2 fields are updated on an equipment along with company code- it creates an asset (there is one to one relationship between equipment and asset)
My Question - Is it possible to create multiple assets per same equipment (in standard changing the company code and object type doesn't trigger new asset creation, in fact the relationship with original equipment is reset) ? We don't intend to use sub assetscapture.png
Seems like business wants to change the depreciation based on usage. Pls explore depreciation based on unit of production or use different depreciation keys for short tern and long term Leasing. Creating two assets may not be a good accounting practice

Hi Gitank,
You should not create new asset if you change object type or company code, instead you need to transfer the existing asset linked to the same equipment to new company if you are transferring the equipment to new company.

Hi Nirmal,
The client is into leasing of trucks. The same truck can be used for short term rental> comes back to warehouse and then issued for long term rental to a customer. STR/LTR are different asset classes since depreciation is different for each. We want to create an asset for both (STR/LTR) using the same equipment (truck). Once the STR ends we scrap the STR asset and create a new asset for it when issuing for LTR.
Kind regards
Gitank
Thanks for the response Sumesh. What we are expecting is - when we change the object type and company code on the equipment, it should create a new asset (the link to original asset in the equipment can be reset, no problem with that). The issue is , the system is not creating a new asset.
Kind regards
Gitank

Hello Gitank, By standard I think this is not possible as when asset is created same is updated in equipment master and only one field is available to enter asset number.
Vice versa is possible one asset can be linked to multiple equipment as in asset master there is option to enter multiple equipments. same asset can be entered in multiple equipment masters.
