Form Changes for 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC For the Year 2023

File status BAD in IRS TEST for 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC, SAP has not released notes for changes to the layouts for these 1099 forms?

1 ‘T’ record appears to have an incorrect tax year in positions 2-5.

If your file is the current tax year, then position 6 of the ‘T’ record must be set to a blank and positions 2-5 of your ‘T’, ‘A’, and ‘B’ records must contain the current tax year.

If your file is a prior tax year, then position 6 of the ‘T’ record must be set to a ‘P’ and positions 2-5 of your ‘T’, ‘A’, and ‘B’ records must contain the prior tax year.

Refer to Publication 1220 or contact your software company or service provider for further information.

Record sequence number 1 is the first known record containing this error.

Did Anyone heard anything about the SAP note for 1099s for the year 2023.

I did but it looks like it is KBA doc not SNOTE. Moreover, the KBA article says "No changes in forms and files for 2023 as of now, same forms and files from previous year 2022 are still valid" under cause section.

With that said, i am not sure if we can expect any SNOTE from SAP for 1099's for the tax year 2023 or not.

I don't know.

They must release SNotes to solve the problem because the IRS is going to reject the files when filing them
