Flexible WF: Deadline Notification - Email to Manager(s) of Approval Step Approvers

We are on SAP S/4HANA 2022 On-premise version.

My requirement is to send Deadline Notification Email to Manager(s) of the Approvers who have not taken any action on the Workitem step which is pending in their 'My Inbox' as part of escalation.

While setting-up Flexible Approval Workflow for 'Manage Workflows for Purchase Orders' Can I use Create Deadline -> Send email Notification -> Role -> Manager of Last Approver, Does it work for my purpose if I setup the HR Org Structure to have the Employee/ Manager Hierarchy?

or is some customization's needed here?

You said it correctly, you just need to define the relationships of managers and employees within the App Manage Workforce, in here you can find the configuration needed for the Workflow and all the details needed within the App.

Don´t forget to configure the system to notify the approvers (App Maintain Email Templates) and enable the email notifications for pending purchase order approvals.
