Final Due Date in a Notification from a Maintenance Plan

Dear,

Actually, priorities determine the requirement start/end date + the final due date of a notification based on this path in SPRO:

It is stipulated that the calculation is based on several parameters including the current date.

But if I create a maintenance plan with a start date in the future like 01.01.2024 with a cycle of 1 MON and with a priority medium for example > then I release a future call today > the final due date will be based on my current date + the duration indicated for my priority in SPRO eg 17/04/2023 + 5 working days = 24/04/2023 > which is not correct since I have released today a call from the future:

>> Final Due Date in the past!

The thing is that I have also configured my maintenance item (which is assigned to my maintenance plan of course) in Fiori to define the compliance check by Priority:

But it does not change anything > planned date = today’s date in my scenario.

With maintenance orders, the final due date is adapted correctly but not with notifications.

Basically I understand that if I create a notification today, the requirement start/end date + final due date are based on the current date.

But what is the solution if we call an object from a maintenance plan earlier than scheduled? Is there a way to modify the behavior from

Final due date = current date + Final due date duration for the priority to

Final due date = requirement start date + Final due date duration for the priority specifically for notifications created from maintenance plans ?

PS: I have checked the following blog already https://blogs.sap.com/2022/08/29/compliance-calculation-method-in-preventive-maintenance/#:~:text=Th.... but it did not really help me.

Thank you in advance!

Hi ,

Ive removed the tag 'SAP S/4HANA Cloud for Asset Management' as the issue is only on an On-premise system

and not Public Cloud

Best Regards

Hi Dany,

Its a good pickup, and the impact you have mentioned above would be applicable across both OnPremise & Public Cloud systems as there is the same SPRO and SSCUI entries mentioned to derive this logic.

The overall issue is that you are saying the 'planned date' should be the planned call date of the notification (not today's date), which is leading to the incorrect derivation of the Final Due Date.

To be honest, I don't think that we will be able to help on this forum (I've checked my Public Cloud system and it is identical logic to yours), I would raise a SAP Support message to try and work through to determine whether this is a 'bug' or whether this logic is 'as designed'.

Hi Tim,

Thanks a lot for your answer.

Indeed, this issue is across OnPremise and the Cloud and the only rule for the final due date is that the formula is the following: FDD = current date + final due date duration but the logic applies only if we create a notification on today's date. On the other hand, for a classic maintenance order, the FDD takes into account the basic start date.

I will log a ticket and update this topic here if I have a workaround.

Have a nice day,

Hi everyone,

My ticket has been forwarded to SAP and they provided me the SAP note 3342802 (https://me.sap.com/notes/3342802) > solution works well and takes into account the requirement start date of the notification instead of the current date to make the calculations.

sap.tim johnstog FYI.

Hi Tim

This is a great pickup. I have been looking at utilising this Final Due Date in Work Orders and the calculating from the current date seemed to be a very strange way to do this calculation.

The request I have had from my business based on the Priority configuration is

  • Maintenance Plan Work Orders/Notifications is calculated from the Plan Date.
  • Corrective Maintenance Notifications is calculated from the Required End Date

This makes sense to me so can you please keep us informed if there is any changes.
