Connecting S/4HANA Advanced Financial Close with SAP ESG suite of products

I am planning to connect AFC with SCT(and other ESG applications). Have you seen that happening before/now or planning for future? If you have seen or doing any discovery, would be good to know how fruitful can it be?

If I may distribute your response into 2 buckets:

a. SCT <-> AFC API - doesn't exist now, is it planned in future? If planned, then only business view comes into picture.

b. Business case - This can go beyond SCT. If I think SFM collecting carbon footprints as and when a Goods Receipt is made in S/4HANA and SFM is connected to SCT that has this automated task to be performed in SFM, once performed status reflect in SCT as 'Completed' without error. To ensure this happens, SFM<->AFC API/connectivity is required, I believe. And, which is not available I guess.

thanks a lot for your suggestions. Looking at the AFC roadmap you see that we do not have a published plan yet. But we are collaborating with customers using AFC already for their sustainability reporting today, yet in a mainly manual way. The value proposition, the Business Case, is clear. Are there any customers already asking for such an integration? If yes: would it be an option to raise an improvement request in CIP?

AFC yet to have any API to connect with SCT. You can take CSV output and feed to SCT for ESG KPIs.

In case you are looking at financial planning & performances, PaPM / SAC Planning can be other 2 significant tools from ESG Financial KPI perspective to explore.

I know SAC and PaPM abilities, we have co-developed products as well.
I guess expecting connectivity between 2 products offered on same technology platform(BTP) isn't something extraordinary. If we are talking integrated reporting, we should expect this minimal level of integration over BTP.

The moment extraction/upload is intro-ed to a process, opportunity to manipulate data will broaden.

thanks a lot for raising your very interesting question. Great to see it happen that you are exploring the potential of our solutions. From a technical point of view SAP SCT is a BTP SaaS solution such as AFC, and AFC does not yet provide supportive APIs for a connection with other BTP applications yet. From a business point of view it would be interesting to understand in more detail what you want to achieve. You may want to create task lists for essentially manual tasks for planning or reporting activities, and you may leverage Web Application based tasks for that purpose. Or you may want to establish some kind of automation of certain tasks or activities in SAP SCT. Can you explain the details?
