I have this situation where a BOM contains 4 components, Namely 1,2,3,4. For component 2,3 we can also use other components 5, 6 respectively. So while MRP run if component 2,3 not available in stock and 5,6 available in stock, it should not create any purchase req for that, instead it assig this components. if both 2,3 and 5,6 not available it should create purchase req. client don't want to create alternate BOM for that. Is it possible?.
If possible how to do it .
Hello Ravi,
To having flexible components at production activities try using alternative item group in BOM or you can use parts interchangeability methods. Other than this I don't think we have any methods for having flexible component selection.
But in your scenario's It is advisable to use alternative BOM concepts to follow the standard process. Because it will be easy to access during MRP and consumption.

Hello
There is a functionality called Parts Interchangeability, which can be used to replace a component whenever it is not available, but it is a simple rule, that only works for one specific component, and it will not check if both are not available before replacing.
