The Indian government mandates that companies maintain a daily backup of their Books of accounts on servers located within India, even if the servers are located outside the country.

We understand that SAP has released KBA 3309423; however, it does not fully meet the legal requirements. I would like to inquire about the methods other companies in India are utilizing to ensure compliance.

Secondly, which are the mandatory tables needs to be backed up under this act to keep us complaint.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi Tarandeep,

The SAP KBA recommends obtaining data in the form of reports or data extraction. However, the legal requirements regarding data backup formats are not explicitly specified.

Moreover, there is a lack of consensus within the Audit community regarding this regulation. It is unclear why the Auditors did not raise questions about compliance with this regulation before August 2022 when an amendment was made, changing the backup frequency from regular basis to daily basis.

This raises concerns about how companies were adhering to this rule prior to the amendment.

Regarding the tables in ByD, it is uncertain whether ByD employs a concept similar to S4 or ECC.

We are currently encountering difficulties regarding the aforementioned regulation, and any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Razak.
