Automated Label/other Printing with Work Orders

Hello,

Could you please tell me if it is possible and how difficult it would be to setup SAP to do the following?

Component Version: SAP ECC 6.0

Database System:   ORACLE

Release:           10.2.0.4.0

We have label sets that are required to be printed along with every work order.

Right now we do this manually outside of SAP.

I need to automate the label printing and other docs printing along with the work order.

This is all the things I need printed along with a work order:

1. Work Order

2. Router

3. BOM

4. Attached/ linked drawings (multiple printers)

5. Label sets (multiple printers)

So as I have shown I got different sized documents that each might require to be printed on different printers/plotters.

Some drawings need to be printed to a plotter while others on a typical desktop printer.

Some label sets need to be printed to a typical desktop printer while others on a specialized label printer.

I envision being able to go to the Work Order print screen, selecting print and all of these documents print out on their

respective printers. Is this possible? What all involved with setting this up? What formats for labels? Difficulty level?

(Current attached drawings are TIFF's)

I guess this is new SAP implemenation.

Yes, this is very much possible in SAP and all implementation I have worked so far have used integrated printing from various SAP transactions i.e. Purchase Order, Sales Order, Delivery, Invoice, Production Order, QM Order and Label printing form WM transactions. In other words I haven't seen any SAP customer who print document outside SAP.

Basically you can define different output format which will be configured their respective transactions. These outputs can be configured to automatically trigger on events like new transaction created or changed. Print Output can automatically pick printer based on, for example, plant, warehouse etc. or even user.

What all involved with setting this up? What formats for labels? Difficulty level?

Now this can be bit relative. There are technologies used within SAP to achieve this and depending on what technology you use or supported by application within SAP and how much sap standard program can be used for you requirement can affect the final figure on effort, budget and difficulty level.
