Any suggestion for upgrade 2005B fixed-assets addons to 8.82 PL10

Hi,

Is anyone can give me suggestions or guideline to upgrade 2005B fixed-assets addon to 8.82 pl10? There are 2 approach to be considered:

1. export old data and import to new one.

2. upgrade.

Which one is best? If we select solution 1, what's we have to do.

Regards,

Daniel

Hi,

I've recently upgraded SAP b1 2005A system to 8.82 PL11.

There are not a lot of FA change between both versions except dimensions, FA crystal report, asset history reports and cost accounting tab in the asset master data.

So, if you have no assets that should be retirement before upgrade, you can select the option 2.

Hi Jimmy

Can U tell me how to do that ? I will upgrade 2005B PL27  to 2005B PL35 and then to 8.82 PL10. Beside that, how to do the upgrade of FA add-ons?

Hi Daniel,

Base on Sap info, you can upgrade to SAP B1 8.82 after upgraded the SAP B1 2005B PL27 to 8.82 PL05 and then to 8.82 PL10.

The add-on table is automatically upgraded after you installed the FA addon of 8.82 PL10. So, before upgrade to the 8.82 PL10, you uninstall  the FA add-on of 2005B PL27 first.

I will check my time if I am available to help you through remote access by team viewer (TV), but I don't promise I can help by remote access application.

Hi,

Better upgrade to latest version to get more features on fixed asset add-on.

Hi,

Don't know for cluster B, I was used to cluster A

Besides this, I'm also more enclined to upgrade, but for functionnal reasons: the only way to do a fresh install would be to delete all specific tables, so a lot of work.

You can always do a good project about it, by booking the depreciations before doing the upgrade, but you'll lose all the capitalizations entries all the depreciation's histories, which will oblige you to enter them again (at least at the date of the upgrade for the remaining amounts and you'll have to cancel the capitalization's JE), but you'll have loosed the history in the assets management addon (not in the G/L)... As a customer, I won't be happy with this

Since you'll have the exact same question while going to 9.0 (except that with 9.0, for sure you'll have to do a fresh install since it will recover only the parameters and initial data: neither the capitalizations nor the depreciations histories), perhaps it's better to go strait to 9.0 and to have troubles only one time...
