Questions regarding Azure database timezone setting for CCv2, though we understand that the default timezone of CCv2 Azure database is UTC,

  • Is it possible to change the timezone of database to Japanese timezone from default setting?
  • If it is possible to change, does it require 're-creation' of the database like 'database collation change'?

Per customer's business requirement, the db timezone can be easily changed in Cloud Portal. For detailed steps, please refer to KBA 3193329 - How to change timezone on cloud portal platform, and KBA 3207401 - How to verify the Timezone followed in CCV2 Database.

In addition, please pay attention to the following explanations quoted from the 'Caution' part of Help Page: Edit Your Environment

  • Changing the time zone of an environment results in all timestamp values being reinterpreted as if they were created in the new time zone. This could result in loss of Commerce data. For example, changing from UTC to EST would erroneously show an order placed at 11:22:33 UTC as being placed at 07:22:33, which is the EST equivalent of 11:22:33.
  • If you do change the time zone, it's highly recommended that you then redeploy builds with database initialization to re-create data using the new time zone.
