Can I find the Weekday of a Timestamp or Date field in SAP Marketing Cloud?

Hello Community,

I want to know if SAP Marketing Cloud has a function to extract the Weekday from a Date or a Timestamp in the Segmentation Models, or if that can be enabled from the Segmentation Configuration?

I will explain the use case for this request:

My team is working on a "Welcome" campaign for our clients, the campaign is to be sent the next day after a contact becomes a client, that means our target groups and segmentation models filter the new contacts created from one day before (today) in a daily campaign.

But we as a company have a restriction to send campaigns only from Monday to Friday, that means that new clients created on Friday and/or Saturday don't receive the campaign because the target group only references the day before. (We can't increase our time filter from more than one day because we don't want to risk sending the campaign more than once to our new customers).

A solution we have identified is through the segmentation model filtering the day of the week in which the new client was created, so that we could identify if it's created on Friday or Saturday and create a separate target group to a separate campaign.

Is that possible in SAP Marketing Cloud? Are there other alternatives?

Hi Rebeca,

I dont think we can filter for weekdays in Segmentation, but we can achieve it with a Workaround . You can set the weekdays in Campaigns ( Mon to Fri ) and you can increase your segmentation criteria to last 3 days instead of 1 day , so if your campaign is running on Monday, it will fetch all the clients created from Friday to sunday and Welcome mail will be triggered on Monday . Also inorder to make sure you are sending the email only once , you can either use

1. Communication limits in Email or

2. You can add a filter for campaign ID in your segmentation so that a contact once entered this welcome campaign will not enter the Target group again .

Hope this helps.

Thank you!!

A quick question if I go via the communication limits in Email, is that something I do directly from my Email provider? or is it something I can do in SMKTC?

Hi Rebeca,

We can assign the communication limit to our Emails in content studio ( SMC) , We have to set a limit for a communication category in Communication Limits and category Application and assign the same to the required Emails ( Under Settings ).

Communication Categories and Limits | SAP Help Portal

Make Settings for an Email Lite | SAP Help Portal

Hope this helps.

Saravana.
