Hello

I am 42 years old PP Specialist .I have around 15 years of domain experience in almost all areas of Manufacturing I have been working in Support enviironment in PP Module in SAP in MIS dept . I have done 2 end to end implementation projects in my own company as Core Team Lead . I have also implemented many functionalities of PP module in post SAP support .Having full knowledge of PP Configuration .Also have detailed knowledge of MM & SD module

Currently I am working as Manager in the same company . I desire to work in consulting company to get the opprutunity to work on new customer projects instead of just Support function , to utilise my skills

1. Will it be worth at this age to shift the job

2. As I am working as Manager in my company , will it be right to switch to mere consultant post

3. Will I get better salary than my current salary (= 12 Lacs/year)

4. How will it be for me , if I do SAP certification

Hello Mr Sandeep,

I would recommend you not to shift your job since you are already in managerial position & also getting good CTC. You are already working on Consulting part in PP Module so it doesn't matter whether your designation is consultant or not as well as also it doesn't matter you are working with Consulting (IT) company or non IT company.

From all perspective my suggestion to you is not to switch the job. However, if still you are looking implementation part etc. then also it is not sure whether you will get implementation in Consulting company as well.

I will also not advise you to shift into SAP, as now SAP career is not as lucrative as it was 5 Yrs ago.

I know many people who are abondoning IT career and moving back to core industry.

Dear Tejas

Thanks for your advice . But the feeling is that the job is of inhouse support .They go for fresh implementation only after 4-5 years that too for same business processes year after year .

Because of this some limited SAP transcations are used every time

One can't improve on the same business processes endlessely

I am not able to use other vast area of knowledge due to limited opporutunity

So , you mean to say that there are no better jobs of my profile
