Hi Narendra,

Good Check this documentation and corresponding links

SAP Exchange Infrastructure

Purpose

SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI) enables you to implement cross-system processes. It enables you to connect systems from different vendors (non-SAP and SAP) in different versions and implemented in different programming languages (Java, ABAP, and so on) to each other. SAP Exchange Infrastructure is based on an open architecture, uses open standards (in particular those from the XML and Java environments) and offers those services that are essential in a heterogeneous and complex system landscape:

● Modeling and design of messages, transformations, and cross-component integration processes

● Configuration options for managing collaborative processes and message flow

● Runtime for message and process management

● Adapter Engine for integrating heterogeneous system components

● Central monitoring for monitoring message flow and processes

SAP XI supports internal company scenarios and cross-company scenarios.

Hi Narendra,

Here are some reason why we want XI, check it and if you are satisfied offer points:

Whilst SAP ERP and NetWeaver technologies provide an excellent integrated business solution and many good mechanisms for interfacing with external systems and data, ECS may be used in addition to standard SAP ERP and NetWeaver to provide a total interface management solution that further drives down the cost of interface development and support. The emphasis here is on sophisticated interface management inside SAP ERP and not external middleware or EAI solutions. Many SAP ERP interfaces require multiple technical steps, sequencing controls, error analysis and re-processing to be performed inside of SAP ERP. Without ECS, this is a complex task, often resulting in a high degree of development, customisation and inconsistency. The strategy behind ECS is to provide a single complete management framework to effectively monitor and manage the SAP ERP interface components whilst providing a clear integration point with NetWeaver and external middleware/systems.

Functionality

· A standard consistent sub-system to define and deploy interface definitions

· A single point from which to proactively monitor and manage all interfaces

· Support for all SAP ERP interfacing mechanisms i.e. files, BDC, IDOC, RFC, functions, ABAP, XI proxies etc.

· Effective dependency controls to properly control complex sequencing

· High degree of data tracking and logging (audit trails)

· High volume performance throughput

· Automatic notification and escalation of problems and events. Capability to interface with NetWeaver solution manager and workflow

· Advanced multi-level job scheduling

· Online documentation and annotation facilities

· Checkpoint restart of failed interface runs

· Simple bi-directional call interfaces with XI, RFC and ALE IDOC sub-systems

· Standard utilities to handle data, restart/recovery controls etc.

· Online real-time monitor transactions with drill down capability.

ood interface management

· Reduce the business and IT manpower required to develop and support interfaces:

· Pro-active problem management improves efficiency and credibility

· Empower business users to directly manage their own interfacing

· Lower development and upgrade costs through using a consistent framework with built-in functionality

· Enable complex interfacing problems to be solved with minimum effort

· Make efficient use of the SAP ERP resources i.e. hardware, processes etc.

Thanks and regards

Hi,

SAP XI :- is middleware tool .

it is between SAP R/3 & External World.

With Help of SAP XI SAP R/3 can Communicate to any application.

Reason :- SAP XI communicate in form of XML Document.

XML Document is universally Excepted Format.

Future is Great in SAP XI.

SAP XI comes in picture when u want to communicate other

SAP & Non-SAP System.

SAP XI support other format too ( other than XML )
